Week #15 Results:
Feb 23, 2011, 12:47 am

Here's the dealio for Week #15:

The Down Lo Playa's welcomed in the Oasis 8-Ballers last week. The Playa's jumped out to an 8-4 lead at the break thanks to Kevin's 3-0 win. Jason and Charles teamed up for the Beer Frame against Matt and Rob. The home team came away with the victory, 2-0. The next two matches belonged to the Playa's as well - Jason and Charles each got all of their games. Tom LeClaire chipped in one more to give the Down Lo Globetrotter All-Star team another big win - 15-6.

Meanwhile, on the North side of town, some of us mortals were playing pool. The Hammerheads were taking on the Towne Lounge II squad at the Last Call. It was a tight match in the first half - Paul Lampright, the newest TL II member, got his first 3 wins of his CMPL career. Jerry, Josh, and Sean all got 2 for the home team leaving it at 6-6 going into the beer frame. Hammerhead newbie Charles teamed up with the veteran Rich Jr. to take on Ed and Shawn Bell. The Lounge came out with the honors getting 2 in a row. Ed stayed at the table and got all 3 of his games, Rusty then got 2, and Shawn wrapped it up with 1 to leave the final score 12-9 Towne Lounge II.

The Oasis was kinda quiet as only 1 table was being used by the pool league. Table One had the Bulldogs 'home' versus the Oasis O's. The Bulldogs struck first as Keith got all 3 of his to start the night. Captain Mike came back in the 3rd match and got all 3 for his crew. Dennis and Leland each got 2 for their respected teams and the match was tied 6-6 at the break. James and Slade played for the Oasis O's and John Denton paired up with Ray for the 'Dogs. James and Slade won 2 in a row leaving Stacy with the bill. Slade came back to the table in the 6th spot and got all 3 of his, helping to propel his team to a final score of 12-9, Oasis O's.

Also at the Down Lo, the Stickmen were hosting the Empire team on the back table. Cele shot out of the gates for the Stickmen getting all 3. Larry and Wheez got 2 each, Scott got one, helping the club to an 8-4 Beer Frame lead. Cele and Keith couldn't get the job done in the Beer Frame - they got the first one, but gave the next two up to the Empire's Mike D. and Ty. Keith and Leo each got 2 more as the final score ended up 13-8 Stickmen.

The Towne Lounge I team was home hosting the Oasis Nuggets, but that's all I know. No scoresheet has been turned in as of yet. I will post the scores and stats and a recap once they become available.

In the meantime, be sure to vote in the very enlightening, deep, thought-provoking poll posted this week (bottom right-hand corner of the screen). Be prepared to have your mind blown, man.

The Empire Club can stay home this Thursday - they've got the bye. Look for their Twitter posts as they inform us all on what, or who, they're doing in Durham.

Week #14 Results

'Sup everyone-

Here are the results for week #14 - 2/10/11:

The 8-Ballers were home hosting the traveling Stickmen at the Oasis. It was a close one at the break as the teams were tied 6-6. Wheezel Dogg broke out a 3-0 win to help keep his team in it. Scott and Keith couldn't handle the Rob and Matt Gabbard onslaught in the beer frame and lost it 2-0. Matt stayed at the table and got 2 wins in the 5 spot, Brian kicked Scott's ass 3-0, but Madsack got 2 out of 3 against Doug to keep the loss at a respectable 12-9. Chock up a win for the 'Ballers.

Also at the Oasis, their was an inter-bar matchup between the Nuggets and the Dragons. The Nugz shot out of the gate and won the first 10 games in a row - Kenny Duff, Mike Karol, and Mike Brandt Sr. each got 3-0 wins, and Izzy got his first game. But Jeff Brun started the comeback tour and got the final 2 of the first half, leaving the Nuggets out in front 10-2 at the break. Steve and Nate kept the momentum going getting the Beer Frame from Kenny and Lee. Steve got 2 for the Dragons, Nate got 1, and Micah wrapped up the night with a 3-0 victory to bring the Dragons from the brink of disaster to a could-be-worse 13-8 loss to the Nuggets.

Downtown, the Lounge II were home hosting the Oasis Bulldogs. The Bulldogs started out strong taking an 8-4 lead to the half as Dennis got all 3 of his games. Shawn Bell teamed up with Rusty to beat Steve Smith and Ray Hubbard for the Beer Frame honors. Shawn and Steve stayed at the table to go head-to-head for 3 games. Shawn got the better of him winning 2 of 3. Mike Von Ritter was up 6th for his first match of the year, as he climbed to the top of the standings with a 3-0 victory, making him 100% for the year. Steve Swim wrapped up the night with 2 more, including the match-winning 21st game, giving the Lounge II an 11-10 come-from-behind victory.

The Playa's were home hosting the Hammerheads of Last Call. The Hammerheads knew they were entering the first place team's home turf, but took it like men and battled it out for a 16-5 loss. Henry Dorsey, aka Walter, won the first 3 of the night, punctuating the set with a 3rd game break-and-run. Brian, Gregg, and Kevin all got 2 after that. Gregg and Kevin teamed up to take on the familiar tandem of Rich Jr. and Sean. The Playa's got the 2 and the Beer Frame. In the bottom half, Mike came in and got all 3 for the Lo, Sean got 2 of his for the 'Heads, and Charles wrapped the night up by rubbing in a final 3-0 victory to seal the Hammerhead's fate.

The Towne Lounge I squad was on the road in Durham last week, but Empire captain Mike lost(?) his binder and the scoresheet so there is no record of the game. He insists the score was 13-8 Empire, and he was quick to add that he got all 3 of his games, but until I receive the visitor's scoresheet from Jason Jones and Company, we'll have to wait and see. I took Mike's word for it and entered the team score that way, 13-8 Empire, so the standings are current (barring any correction), but the individual stats for those two team's shooters, and top shooter list, and the beer frame rankings, will have to wait to be updated once I receive a copy of the scoresheet. More details to follow.

The Chico bars will be quiet again as we are blessed with a Dragon bye week. Enjoy the serenity and good luck in Week #15.

Week #13 Results
Feb 9, 2011, 1:56 am

Here are the results for week 13, February 3rd matches:

The Bulldogs were home at the Oasis versus their bar-mates, the Dragons. The Bulldogs had a slight lead at the break, 7-5, thanks to Bulldog Chris getting all three of his games. The Beer Frame had John and Brian up for the 'Dogs taking on Nate and Micah for the 'Drags Dragons. The Dragons came away with the win this time. In the bottom half, Captain Steve came out with a 3-0 win for the Bulldogs, and his teammates cruised home with a 13-8 victory.

The Nuggets were also home at the cozy confines of the Oasis hosting the Stickmen of Down Lo. The Nuggets were up 7-5 at the break, thanks to Kenny Duff and Mike Karol's 3-0 efforts. Cele helped keep it close with his own 3-0 win for the Stickmen. Lee and Matt stole the Beer Frame from Cele and Sundy - the Down Lo tandem got the first win, but Lee and Matt got the next two in a row to win the free beer. Keith started off the final matches with a 3-0 victory for the Stickmen, and Leo chipped in 2 wins, making the score 10-8 Down Lo going into the final matchup - Izzy versus Madsack. Izzy got the first game making it 9-10, but Madsack got the 2nd game giving the Stickmen a come from behind 11-10 victory, as Izzy got the final game.

The Empire marched into town to battle the Playa's of Down Lo. As with many teams facing the first place Playa's, the Empire walked away with few points. The Down Lo spanked the 'Club 15-6. It was all 2-0 victories for the Playa's, except for Brian Griffin's 3-0 showing. Kevin and Jason teamed up for another Playa Beer Frame win, beating Mike Dixon and Paul Leroy.

The Town Lounge II squad had the bar to themselves as their parent-team, the Lounge I, was on vacation (bye week). The Lounge raided the liquor cabinet, burned the couch, broke Howard's vase, and partied like rock stars as the Original O's were invited to the party. The home team was up 8-4 at the break, thanks to Captain Ed' 3-0 hat trick. The Oasis comeback started in the Beer Frame as Ed and Steve had a rare loss to Stacy and Josh. Josh stayed at the table and got 2 wins, Slade got 1, and Joel got all 3 to come oh-so-close and make the final score Lounge 11, Oasis 10. No arrests were made.

The scoresheet from the north side of town was finally retrieved - The Hammerheads of Last Call were home taking on the Oasis 8-Ballers. The teams traded 2-1 games in the first half and entered the Beer Frame with the Hammerheads up 7-5. The Sean and Rich Jr. tandem got the first beer frame win, but Rob and Matt struck back with two in a row to win the honors. In the second half, Matt, Jimmy, and Pops all got 2 wins for the 'Ballers to win a close one 11-10. Hats off to Pops getting the final 2 to put his team on top. 8-Baller's Brian and Matt also each had impressive (and rare) 8-ball break and run wins to help the cause.

Good luck in Week #14 - unless you are the Oasis O's - you got a bye. Get Stacy out of the bar and let him go home for once!

Top Shooter and Beer Frame leader boards are finally updated - sorry for the wait.

Week #11 Results
Jan 26, 2011, 1:22 am

Here it is - the end of the first half!

Here are the results for Week #11:

The Bulldogs were home against the Empire Club. The Empire was up big at the half - thanks to Eric and Pat getting all 3 of their games. Ed and Ray came back and won the Beer Frame against James and Paul. Then the Bulldogs roared back and won the next 6 games, thanks to Dennis and Frank getting all 3 of theirs. The match was 9-9 now going into the final frame. Ed got the first one to take the 'Dogs to the hill at 10-9, but Ty took care of business and won the final two giving the 'Club an 11-10 victory.

Also at the Oasis, the Original O's were hosting their in-bar rivals - the 8-Ballers. In a back-and-forth first half, Rob started the night getting 3 for his 'Ballers, but Josh struck back and got 3 for his O's. Brian shot third and got 2 for the 8-Ballers, but Leland came out and got 3 for the Originals, leaving the halftime score at 7-5, Oasis O's. Rob and Matt got the beer frame honors, defeating Josh and James. The second-half belonged to the O's as Troy and Stacy each got 2, and Slade got 1 giving the O's a 12-9 win.

The Hammerheads were at home enjoying some sweet karaoke and hosting the Oasis Dragons last Thursday. The Dragons came in singing 'We Will Rock You' and left singing 'We Are The Champions' as they got in their cars with a 14-7 win on the road. Steve and Micah helped the cause with 3-0 hat tricks, and Brenon and Nate Dog got the Beer Frame leaving Kris and Jerry with empty glasses.

The Towne Lounge II crew were at home hosting their downstairs neighbors, the Down Lo Stickmen. The score was 7-5 Lounge at the half, thanks to Rusty's 3-win performance. Lounge Captain Ed and Steve Hale won the Beer Frame, stealing the last two games from Keith and Cele. In the bottom half, the Stickmen made it close, but couldn't seal the deal, as the Lounge II came away with a close 11-10 victory.

At the same time at the Down Lo, the other Towne Lounge team was playing the other Down Lo team. The results weren't nearly as close, as the Playa's handed the Lounge I shooters a 14-7 whoopin'. Henry Dorsey started the night with a 3-0 win, then Charles came to bat and got all 3. New Playa' addition Gilbert got 2, and top shooter Kevin got 1 to give the Playa's a 9-3 lead going into the Beer Frame. Charles and Gilbert teamed up to beat Jason and Stephen for a home Beer Frame win. In the second half, Jason C. got all 3 of his to pretty much make it official.

Okay - first half is done. It's time to start over and do it right for the second-half. Check out the standings - it's still wide open. There is only a 16 point difference between 2nd and 10th place - 8 points between 3rd and 8th place! The schedule starts over again, but the home bar is reversed. The new team - the Towne Lounge II - will be the first team on the bye week again. Good luck!

Week #10 Results
Jan 18, 2011, 2:30 am

Almost down to the end of the first half - here's the results for week #10:

The Stickmen of the Down Lo were at home hosting the Oasis Bulldogs. In a close match, the Stickmen and 'Dogs were tied 6-6 at the break, thanks to Down Lo Larry's 3-0 victory, and Oasis Dennis' 3-0 win. Steve and Frank took the Beer Frame from Keith and Weezel, but Keith stayed at the table and won all 3 of his games in dramatic fashion. Leo kept it rollin' with 3 wins of his own. But then Frank said "Hold up. That's enough" and won all 3 of his in the last match of the night, stopping the Bulldog's bleeding, and leaving the bar with a 9-12 loss to the Stickmen.

The Empire welcomed in the weary travelers, the Oasis 8-Ballers, in week 10. Unfortunately for the Empire, the Ballers made themselves really at home. Bud and Doug got all 3 for the Oasis club, and almost everyone else got 2 wins for the 8-Ballers, making the final score a whopping 15-6. The Empire did save some face by winning the Beer Frame, though, as Ty and Paul teamed up to beat Doug and Jimmy Soto.

The Dragons hosted the Towne Lounge II team at the Oasis last week. Brenon started the night with a 3-0 victory, and that set the tone for the rest of the night as the Dragons held on and won 13-8. Kenny Smith chipped in 3 in the bottom half, as Ed saved his team from a disastrous night by getting the last 3 in the bottom frame. Ed and Rich managed to beat the father-son Smith tandem of Aaron and Kenny in the Beer Frame for a Lounge II win.

The other Towne Lounge team was at home hosting the Oasis Original O's. This contest was close from beginning to end. Teams traded 2-win matches in the first half leading to a 6-6 tie at the break. Jason and Amer took care of Slade and Leland in the Beer Frame. Kevin K. got 2, then Jason Jones got 3 putting the Lounge in the lead 11-7, but red-hot Oasis O Joel came back with the final 3 games to make the final score a very close 11-10 Lounge victory.

The Hammerheads of Last Call ventured over to the Oasis to take on the Nuggets in week 10. The Nuggets weren't too hospitable as they trounced the 'Sharks 15-6. Mike Brandt Jr., Bill R., Paul A., and Mike Karol all got 3-0 hat tricks for the Nuggets. Rich Jr. got half of his team's 6 total points as he got all 3 of his games. Mike Karol and Kenny Duff made things even worse for Last Call, sticking Rich Jr. and Kris with the Beer Frame tab.

Good luck in week #11 - the last week of the first-half! The 'Nugs will be idle on their bye this week, so other teams near the top - here's your chance to pass them if you can!

Week #9 Results
Jan 8, 2011, 4:17 pm

Here's the Week 9 results...

The Stickmen were home at the Down Lo hosting the Dragons. The match was tied 6-6 at the break. John Chamberlin chipped in a 3-winner to keep it close. Sundy and Keith beat John and Steve for the Beer Frame win. In the second half, Aaron started it off with a 3-win effort, but Leo and Keith finished the night with 6 straight wins, and a final score of 12-9.

It was a battle of the Lounges upstairs as I took on II. Tony got all 3 of his for the Lounge I, and Rusty got all 3 of his for the Lounge II, leaving the teams tied at the break. Fahd and Jason Jones got the bragging rights this time as they beat Steve Swim and Captain Ed for the Beer Frame. In the bottom half, the players traded 2-1 games, and Ed got the last one 2-1 for the close 11-10 victory.

The Bulldogs were home at the Oasis taking on the Hammerheads of Last Call. The 'Dogs were up 7-5 at the mid-point, but they turned up the heat in the bottom frames winning 8 of 9 making the final score 15-6 Bulldogs. Sean and Rich got the Beer Frame though, beating John Denton and Ed Bowers.

Also at the Down Lo, the Playa's were hosting the Original O's. The Playa's were up 8-4 at the Beer Frame, thanks to Charles' 3-0 showing. Charles and Kevin won the Beer Frame against Joel and Josh. After Tom LeClaire played his match and got 1 point, Captain Mike looked at his bench and realized it was empty, and had to forfeit the final 2 matches. The free 6 points gave the O's a 12-9 victory on the road, handing the Playa's their first loss of the season.

The Empire Club flew in from Durham Thursday for their match at the Oasis versus the Nuggets. The teams were tied at the break 6-6. Jimmy Scott got 3 for the 'Nugs, and Ian Filby got 3 for the Empire to help their respective teams. James and Paul won the Beer Frame for the Empire as they took care of Bill R. and Matt ?. of the Nuggets. In the bottom half, Patrick, Julius, and Ty each got 2 wins to give their Empire a 12-9 victory.

Good luck in week #9. The Playa's will be on their bye week, but my hunch is they will not be resting. I'm sure you'll still see the crew playing downstairs all week.
