CMPL - Week #6 Results
Dec 7, 2011, 6:05 pm

Okay. There's 24 matches a season for each team. Half of those are home games - 12. One of those home games is against my team, the Stickmen. That makes 11. Four teams play at the Oasis. That makes 7. Nine of the teams play in or near the Oasis or the Down Lo, where I am at more than half of the time. So if my calculations are right, any given captain (or delegate there of) needs to make at the most 7 special trips to the Oasis to drop off the score score sheet, within 4 days of their home match, over a 7-month season. I need to make 26 Monday night trips to the Oasis in a season at a minimum. If there are scoresheets missing, I need to come back the next day, and/or the next day, and/or the next day... Gas is over $3.50 a gallon. Hopefully captains out there are catching my drift - I need scoresheets turned in on time, which is Monday at 5:00 in the Oasis box, or faxed to 343-0416, or emailed to chicomenspoolleague@gmail.com. You caqn leave it with me at the Down Lo since I am down there most Thursdays. If I'm not at the Down Lo, odds are I will be playing one of the Oasis teams. Or - if you want to trust an Oasis captain you just played, you can give it to him to turn it in if he is heading back to the O. Last year was almost problem-free, but this year is off to a bad start. Please help a brother out - get 'em in on time. Penalties will begin next week - $1 a point you earned, and/or forfeited points. Read the rules for more info.

(stepping down from my soap box and catching a breath...)

All right - here's the results I have for week #6:

The Eagles were home hosting the Last Call Pocket Raiders last Thursday. Both teams were tied at 6 heading into the beer frame. Pocket Raider Gary got all 3 of his games helping the cause. Kevin and Matt A. won the beer frame for the visiting club against Terry and Robin. In the bottom-half, Kevin "2", Matt H., and Tim finished the night off getting 7 of a possible 9 points. Hatt H. got all 3 of his. The Pocket Raiders played an un-paid player who got one point, so it has been deducted from their totals. Final score: Last Call 12, Eagles 8.

At the Down Lo, the Diamondbacks welcomed the Dragons down into their subterainian lair. The Dragons escaped, but with just one win on the night. Thanks to Micah, "no skunk tonight!". Kenny Duff, Mike Karol, Paul, Mike Brandt, Rusty, and Bulldog each won all 3 of their games. Jeff Brun and Jason did manage to steal the beer frame away from Lee and Bulldog. Final score: Diamondbacks 20, Dragons 1.

Also at the Down Lo, the Stickmen were hosting their upstairs neighbors, the Lounge II. It was tied at the break, but the Loungers poured it on in the second half to run away with a 13-8 victory. Ed found a way to win all 3 of his games, and the beer frame with Shawn.

The other Down Lo squad, the Playa's, were on the road at the Oasis taking on one of the first-year teams, the Bankers. It wasn't pretty. George Barstow got the only point for the Bankers as the Playa's crushed the Oasis team 20-1. The Playa's were even mean enough to win the beer frame and drink for free. 'Sup with that? Charles, Kevin, Gregg, Jason, Larry, and Mike all got hat tricks.

Out in Durham, the Empire Club was hosting the other "rookie" team, the Tackle Box Spinners. Mike Dixon, Eric, and Troy each got 3-0 wins for the Empire in the first half, giving them the required 11 at the beer frame. Jeff and Bob Cody won the beer frame against the Spinner's Bobo and Jonny. The Eagles had to forfeit their last match due to not enough players, but still came out on top 13-8. (Actually, 13-6 because a Spinner player played but still hasn't paid yet so he and their team lost 2 points.)

No score sheet was turned in by the Towne Lounge I team for their match against The Oasis O-Team, so both team's stats and points have not been entered. Sorry to those affected. I will post the results once a scoresheet is turned in.

Good luck tomorrow night - unless you are a Towne Lounge I playa'. You've got a bye. For everyone else, I will be at the Down Lo if you want to drop your scoresheet off or any outstanding player dues.

Updated!
Nov 30, 2011, 1:37 am

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving Break! I spent most of it updating the database outside the website, which helps me double-check and ensure stats are correct, track payments, and most importantly sort top shooters. It was a laborous process that is finally complete and up to date. Click on the Beer Frame Tracker and Top Shooter buttons in the left-hand column to see the results. Hats off to Frank Jarvis - a perfect 15 for 15 so far and the current Top Shooter! Emails which include a .PDF copy of the complete and entire individual rankings, top shooters, and standings were sent out to the email addresses that I have. If you want to be included in the mailings or if you're not getting them and should be, register as a user, or forward me your address: chicomenspoolleague@gmail.com.

I was so busy with this I didn't have time for game re-caps and commentaries. If you want to see the scores and games, click on the Game Schedule button. I'll get back to those postings next week.

Only a hand full of players left unpaid - the Tackle Box, Last Call, and Dragons have been notified and their players should be taken care of this week. Points will be deducted if not.

Good luck this week - except for the Bulldogs. They have their bye week.

Catch-Up
Nov 18, 2011, 12:29 am

Okay, sorry for the lack of stats and scores. Didn't receive a couple of score sheets until today (Thursday) and I've been watching my 3 kids solo for the past 2 weeks, and trying to do a thing called work at the same time. But now all the stats and scores are in and current up to Thursday afternoon, 11/17.

I'll try to do a re-cap of the past couple weeks this holiday week, and get a top-shooter list posted as well. I'll also be checking rosters and payments (yes, there's still some out there missing - you know who you are) in the down time as well. I'll allow a grace period until Monday (11/21) when I pick up this week's score sheets to get any outstanding money in. On Tuesday, 11/22, I will start deleting points for unpaid players who have played 'illegally'. I've been leniant so far, but the deadline has now been posted. Captains - you have been warned.

Have a good Thanksgiving! Games resume December 1st. Check the standings - they may be adversely affected if player dues are not turned in!

Week #2 Results -
Nov 4, 2011, 9:57 am

Still waiting on score sheets for Week #3 (11/3 games), so here's a recap of week #2 (10/27 games):

In a battle at the Oasis, the Dragons were considered the home team versus the Oasis O-Team. The O-Team was up 7-5 at the break, and held on to win 11-10 in a close, back-and-forth match. Jason and John of the Dragons got the beer frame from Aaron and Mike, 2-0. Slade, the O-Team's #7 shooter, got the winning point in his first game of his match to seal the deal.

The Stickmen were home at the Down Lo hosting the Eagles. The Stickmen started strong, going up 8-4 at the Beer Frame. Cele got 3 wins to lead off the night, and Louis got all 3 of his in the clean-up spot. Scott and Cele couldn't get the job done in the beer frame, as Donny and Jonny won the honors, 2-1. In the bottom-half, it was all Stickmen - winning 8 of the final 9 games. Wheez got 2, Madsack got all 3, and Scott finished the night with a 3-spot as well. Final score: Stickmen 16, Eagles 5.

Way back in the corner at the Down Lo, the Playa's were also home hosting the Tackle Box Spinners. The Playa's came away with a huge victory, 17-4. Charles, Leland, Gregg, Mikie, and Amer all got 3-0 victories, plus Charles and Kevin won the Beer Frame 2-0. The 4 points scored by the Spinners all came from the same family - the Boelen Boys. Rich Sr. got a point, and Jr. came up big with 3 points. The Tackle Box will finally host their first home game in week #3 against the Eagles.

Speaking of first games, the Oasis Bankers, who had a bye the first week, were on the road at Towne Lounge to play the Lounge II team. The teams were fairly close at the Beer Frame - the Lounge was up 7-5. Ed and Matt Gabbard beat Bill and Mark for the Beer Frame win, 2-0. Lounger Steve Swim came out swinging in the 5th spot, beating his opponent 3-0. Prana got 1, and Paul got 2, giving the Towne Lounge II the win, 13-8.

The Last Call Pocket Raiders were home versus the heavy-hitting Down Low Diamondbacks. The game was officially won by the D-Bax at the Beer Frame - they were up 12-0 thanks to 4 shut out matches by Mike Brandt Sr., Matt Fields, Jimmy Scott, and Paul Airth. Apparently Mike Karol and Brandt felt bad about the quick win, and lost the beer frame 2-0 to Matt and Kevin. I can't tell from the score sheet if Izzy made it 14 in a row when he shot in the 5th spot, but none the less he got 2 more wins. Pocket Raiders Gary and Kevin L. made it a little more respectable as they finished strong getting 2 of 3 each. Final score: 16-5 Diamondbacks.

Back at the Oasis, the Bulldogss welcomed in the Towne Lounge I squad. They weren't too hospitable - the 'Dogs went up 9-3 at the Beer Frame break, thanks to Keith and Chris' 3-0 showings. Pat and Tony did get the Beer Frame from the Oasis' Frank and Bryan, saving Stacy a few bucks. In the bottom 3 games, the Bulldogs almost swept it - getting the first 8 games, and losing the very last. Frank got 3, Bryan got 3, and Ty almost sealed it with 2 wins - Howie saved the sweep in the last frame. Final score: Bulldogs 17, Lounge 4.

Hopefully your team did good last night - unless you are a Pocket Raider, you were on a bye week. I'll post week 3 scores from last night as soon as possible, hopefully no later than Monday the 7th.

If you have any dues still to be paid, please take care of it ASAP.

Week #1!
Oct 25, 2011, 5:33 pm

Hey Everyone-

Hopefully it was a fairly stress-less start to the 2011-2012 season. It looks like everyone went to where they were supposed to go.

Believe it or not, I still need to get money and rosters from some teams, listed below. Penalties (points and/or fines) will be initiated on Thursday if no attempt has been made. It is completely unfair to those that paid and made the effort to handle it on time, in addition to my hassles of being bill collector.

Tackle Box: 8 player's team dues and $40 bar fee
Oasis Bulldogs: 4 Players due, 4 Players paid, $12 credit
Empire Club: 7 player's team dues
Oasis Bankers: 7 player's team dues (haven't played yet, bye in week #1)
Oasis O-Team - Need to pay for Aaron (played beer frame on 10/20)
Towne Lounge I - Need to pay for Joe S. (played match on 10/20)

Please take care of this ASAP.

*******
Here's what happened in week #1:

The Empire Club was on the road taking on the Last Call Pocket Raiders. Well, at least 2 of them were. The rest of the team didn't make it so the Last Call squad got an easy 11-0 win without even taking their cues out. No individual stats were recorded for the forfeit, and they opted not to play the beer frame. Hopefully everything is OK with the Durhamites - they are on a bye this week - hopefully this will give them time to get things sorted out. I'll let you know for week #3.

The Playa's were Down Lo hosting the Oasis Dragons. The Playa's were up 8-4 at the half, thanks to Tom LeClaire's 3-0 showing. Charles and Jason got the beer frame against Jeff and Aaron. In the bottom half, the Playa's kept pouring it on, getting 7 of the final 9 games. Larry Hiller got all 3 of his. In the end, it was Playa's: 15, Dragons: 6. Special note: Charles and Kevin each got 8-Ball Break-and-Runs ('B & R' boxes on your score sheets), starting off the season in style.

On another table at the Down Lo, the Stickmen were home hosting the new boys - the Tackle Box Spinners. Some familiar names are on their roster, though: Pops, the Boelen Boys (Jr. and Sr.), among others. The newer-looking Stickmen club were up 7-5 at the break, but Zook and Trevor beat Wheez and Madsack in the beer frame. In the final 3 frames, each team got 3-0 wins. Brian Norman and Wheez stepped up getting all 3 for the Stickmen, and Bob did the same for the 'Box. Final score was 13-8, Stickmen.

The third Down Lo team, the Diamondbacks (aka the Team Formerly Known as The Nuggets), were on the road at the Oasis taking on the O-Team. In a very close match, both teams were tied 6-6 at the beer frame. In the beer frame, Mike Karol and Paul teamed up against Aaron and Brian. The D-Backs came away with free beers. In the bottom-half, recently transplanted Brian Vignon got 2, and long-time 'O Troy got the deciding 3-0 victory in the 6th spot. Paul came back and got the final 3 to make it look close, making the final score 11-10 in favor of the O's.

Over at the Eagles Club, the 'Birds had some Bulldogs all over them. Thanks to B-Dog Keith's 3-0 lead-off performance, the 'Dogs were up 9-3 at the beer frame. The Eagles did strike back and get the aforementioned beer frame, as Robin and Rick beat Ed and Ty for the cold, frosty, free can of beer. The Eagles stayed stuck on 3 wins as the Bulldogs emphatically won the final 3 matches 9-0. Ty, Frank, and Steve won each of theirs 3-0, helping their team to an 18-3 victory.

Back downtown their was an in-house battle between Towne Lounge I and II. Both teams were locked at 6 going into the beer frame. Ed and new shooter Ben Beeler got the honors, beating Tony T. and an unknown player, in the scotch doubles match. In the second half, it was all Lounge II as newbie Ben got all 3 of his and Steve Swim got 2. Prana was waiting by himself at the table for the final match - the Lounge I squad didn't field a 7th, giving the Lounge II the victory - 14-7.

The new Oasis team, the Bankers, were on a bye this week, hopefully getting all their players in order. I'll post their players once I get a roster. The Empire Club will look to do the same this week, as they have the bye in Week #2.

Good luck this week - hopefully I'll have the above mentioned administrative work done and no penalties will be handed out. Again, I do appreciate those that have paid - thank you!!!

...still waiting for more rosters and payments. After I receive them, I will post the teams. EVERYONE: I'm looking for sponsors who want their business logo on our home page, like FunLand (who supplied paper and printing supplies for the binders - no fee to the league) and Mike Clarke's Chico Mobile Air & Auto Repair (big discount on meat for party last year). The spot will be $25 for the year. We have almost 15000 views so it is seen by many players and families. So if you run a business, or work for one, see if they are interested. Thanks! -Scott-
