Week #17
Mar 8, 2012, 5:35 pm

Sorry - more late score sheets so no time for recaps or top shooter updates this week. All the stats and games are now in, so the standings page and individual stats are all current. Good luck this week (tonight), except for the Diamondbacks who are on a bye this week.

Week #16 Results
Feb 29, 2012, 5:07 pm

Here are the results from Thursday, 2/23/12 - minus the Towne Lounge I vs. Oasis Dragons match - no score scheet from the Lounge as of Wed., 2/29.

At the Oasis, the O-Team was hosting the Lounge II group. Brian, Sean Wasson, and James got all 3 for the Oasis club, and Steve Hale put up 3 for his team. Prana and Matt beat James and Slade for the beer frame honors, but the O-Team won for the night - 13-8.

The Eagles were home hosting the Tackle Box. Robin, Terry, and Captain Jon got all 3 of their matches for the Eagles, and Bob got 3 for the 'Box. The Eagles got the beer frame 2-0 as Jon and Donny beat Trevor and Zook. The Eagles ended the night on top, 13-8.

The Stickmen were home downstairs as the travelling Empire made the trip to town. The Empire came to play as Bob Cody wrapped up the first half with a 3-0 victory. The Stickmen got the beer frame as Madsack and Sundy beat Rick and Paul, 2-1. In the end it was Empire wth the win, 12-9.

Also at the Down Lo, the Diamondbacks were hosting the Oasis Bankers. The Bankers were fighting up hill the whole time, as the D-Backs jumped out to a 9-3 lead at the break. Mike Karol and Matt beat Bill and Mark in the beer frame, 2-1. In the bottom half, Rusty and Matt got 3 wins each to help the Diamondbacks to a healthy 16-5 win.

Over at the Oasis, the Bulldogs were home taking on the Down Lo Playa's. Dennis and Jim put up 3's to help the Bulldogs to an early 8-4 lead, threatening to derail the undefeated Playa's. Kevin and Leo got the beer frame against Dennis and Ed, 2-1. In the bottom half, the Playa's mounted a come back and got the final 8 of 9 points for a 12-9 victory. Leo got 3, Jason got 3, and Tom got 2.

As stated, no sheet from the Lounge I crew vs. the Dragons. I'll update when it's turned in. More money for the pool party!

Good luck this week. Happy Leap Day. The Stickmen are on the bye this week.

Week #15 Results
Feb 22, 2012, 12:50 am

After a good week comes a bad week - the Tacklebox was back at home, as was the Diamondbacks. I haven't received scoresheets (as of Tuesday night) from either home captain, so penalty money will be collected this week, and I'll post scores as I get them. Probably no updates to the Top Shooter list, or individual stats this week because of it.

Here's the results from Thursday, February 16th:

The Stickmen were on the road celebrating Louis' birthday at the Eagles Hall last Thursday. In between cans of beer and pieces of cake, a game was played. It was tied 6-6 at the break thanks to the Birthday Boy's 3-0 win, and Robin's 3-0 win to tie it up. Louis and Sundy played the beer frame against Jon and Donny. Eagles won 2-0. In the 6th spot, Stickman Keith got 3 to help the Down Lo team to a 12-9 victory.

Over at the Towne Lounge, the TL1 team hosted the Oasis Bulldogs. The 'Dogs were up 8-4 halfway through, thanks to Dennis and Brian's 3-win efforts, and Stephen Wells got 3 to keep it close. In the bottom-half, the TL1 guys mounted a charge propelled by Howie's hat trick, but in the end Keith got 2 of 3 to get the 10th and 11th point, giving the Bulldogs an 11-10 win. Keith and Ty won the beer frame versus Jason and Kevin.

The Oasis O-Team was short-handed even after picking up newcomer Dave, and gave the Dragon's a 3 point gift. This helped the Dragons on their way to a 14-7 victory. Mike Clarke got all 3 of his, but so did Krad and Kenny for the Dragons. Jason and Steve couldn't get it going in the beer frame as they lost to Mike and Stacy of the O-Team, 2-0.

Also at the Oasis, the Bankers welcomed in the hot Towne Lounge 2 squad. The Bankers also didn't have a 7th player so the TL2 team got 3 the easy way. Paul Lampright, Matt Gabbard, and Ed Theis each got 3 points each to lead their team to a 17-4 win. The Bankers did get the beer frame as Mark and Bill beat Ed and Greg, 2 out of 3.

Again, no score sheet for the Tackle Box/Playa's match. Still waiting for the Diamondbacks sheet for their match versus Last Call.

The Last Call Pocket Raiders are on a bye this week, so they'll be singing karaoke at their bar while everyone else plays this week. Good luck to all!

Week #14 Results
Feb 14, 2012, 12:34 am

...and the 2nd Half has begun. Here are the results from week #14:

The Oasis Dragons were home hosting the 1st place Playa's. The Down Lo got 10 of the first 12 possible points, thanks to Gregg, Mikie, and Leland's 3-0 efforts. In the beer frame, Jeff and Steve of the Dragons took care of Leo and Leland, winning 2 of 3. In the bottom frames, it was still all Playa's as they wrapped up the night with a 15-6 win.

Also at the Oasis, the Bulldogs were hosting the visiting Eagles. The final score was 14-7 Bulldogs, as Keith and Chris each got 3 wins, as did Terry for the Eagles. John and Terry couldn't pick up the beer frame win as Dennis and Ed Bowers got the Scotch doubles win.

Over on Park Ave., the Stickmen started the second half on the road at the Tackle Box. At the half, it was 7-5 Down Lo. Cele and Scott teamed up for the beer frame against the Tackle Box shooters Bob and Randy. The visiting squad drank for free, getting 2 out of 3. In the bottom half the Stickmen wrapped it up, winning 12-9 as Scott got 3 for the Down Lo, and Trevor got 3 for the Spinners.

At the battle of the bar, Towne Lounge I was squaring off against Towne Lounge II. TL1 shot out of the gates with a 9-3 lead, mainly due to Tony and Stephen Wells getting 3 each. Matt and Ed of the TL2 team got the beer frame win against Howie and Fahd. This must have been the momentum swinger as the TL2 team accomplished the comeback of the year so far. Getting 8 of the final 9 points propelled them into the lead, and the win, 11-10. Matt and Steve Swim got 3, and Greg Smith got the final 2 to end it.

At polar ends of the CMPL map, the Durham Empire Club welcomed in the weary travelers, the Last Call Pocket Raiders. It was all tied at 6 at the beer frame, as Paul Leroy got 3 wins just before the beer frame. Kevin and Jimmy got the always sweet on-the-road beer frame win against Paul and Bob L. In the bottom-half, Durhamites Rick, Bob Cody, and Bob Lithgow each got 2 wins to seal the deal, 12-9 Empire.

After a 3 or 4 day electrical issue, it came down to the wire and the Diamondbacks were able to play downstairs hosting the Oasis O-Team. In a very close match, both teams battled until the final shooters. Stacy and Kenny Duff each got 3 wins for their respective teams to make it 7-5 at the half, Diamondbacks up. Kenny and Izzy got 2 out of 3 in the beer frame against Slade and Troy for the win. In the bottom half, Slade and Troy played back-to-back getting 2 each, making the score tied 9-9. This left it up to the final shooters, and Captain Mike Karol came up big getting 3 out of 3 for the 12-9 Diamondback victory.

Thanks Captains for getting your scoresheets in on time - everyone will be rewarded with finally knowing the current standings and top shooter positions. It will be posted online, at the Oasis, and in your email box Tuesday or Wednesday. Please keep it up!

Good luck to all those except the Empire Club this week - the Durham squad will be on their bye week.

Down Lo issues
Feb 8, 2012, 4:09 pm

It looks like the Down Lo is having some kind of electrical issue and has been closed the past few days. no one know when it will be up and running again, so tomorrow night the only teams affected will be the hosting Diamondbacks and the visiting Oasis O-Team. The way we are playing this situation is the following: at 2:00pm Thursday, if there is power and they are confirmed going to be open, then the match will play as scheduled, at the Down Lo. If they still have issues at 2:00pm, then the match will be played at the Oasis.

I'll let you know if anything changes - be sure to spread the word to all the Diamondback and O-Team players.

All fixed! Down Lo is back open and games are on for tonight as scheduled! The Oasis O-Team will be at the Down Lo playing the Diamondbacks at 7:00pm. Please give an extra few minutes grace period for those who may still be confused and heading to the wrong bar.

Half One in the books!
Feb 7, 2012, 7:06 pm

The first half of the season is in the books! Now in the second-half, the schedule repeats itself, but you swap as home and away this time around.

Here are the results from week #13:

The Dragons were home as they invited in the Eagles. After being ahead 8-4 at the break, the Dragons poured it on and finished the night 15-6 winners. Steve and Kenny each got 3-0 wins for the Dragons. Jeff and Jason beat the Eagle's Donny and Jon for the beer frame honors.

In a close match downtown, the Diamondbacks were hosting their upstairs neighbors, the Towne Lounge I. It was tied 6-6 heading int the beer frame, and stayed tight right down until the end. Mike Karol got the match point in the final frame, giving the D-Backs a close 11-10 victory. Mike K and Matt won the beer frame for the Down Lo team.

Over at the Oasis, the Bankers had to have been sweating after the 5th matchup. They were down 10-5 and two more matches to go. Eric Monlux and Bob got 3 wins each for the Empire, and Banker Mark got 3 as well. Mark and Bill won the beer frame 2-0 against Paul and Troy of the Empire. Unfortunately, the Empire couldn't field their final 2 players and handed the bankers 6 free points, and a match win, as the 2 forfeits gave the Bankers the 11 they needed, Empire was stuck with 10.

Up North at the Last Call, the Stickmen were on the road. The Pocket Raiders were up 7-5 at the break, thanks to Matt A.'s 3-0 victory. Cele and Sundy teamed up for the beer frame win, beating the Altenbergs - Nick and Matt. Another familiar comeback scene in the bottom-half: Madsack, Keith, and Scott rallied for 7 of 9 points, including Madsack's 3-0 hat trick, to give the Down Lo Stickmen the 12-9 victory.

Ed's Towne Lounge II crew were home hosting the Playa's. Kevin and Leland started out the night with 3-0 wins, but Greg Smith came back and got 3 of his own for his Loungers, including one win via an 8-ball break-and-run. This made the score 8-4 Playa's. Larry Hiller and Kevin couldn't beat Ed and Matthew in the beer frame - they lost 2-1. In the bottom-half the Playa's held strong and finished business, achieving a 13-8 win on the road.

I got the score sheet from the Tackle Box for their 1/19 match, but after a bye week they had a home match again last week and I still haven't received their score sheet for it against the Bulldogs. So same story - top shooter lists, standings, etc. on hold until I receive it. I'll update ASAP.

Good luck in week #14 - first one of the second-half! Now's the time you turn things around (unless you're at the top of the leaderboard) and move up the standings! The Bankers are on their second and final bye week.

Week #12 Results
Feb 1, 2012, 5:22 pm

I still haven't received a score sheet from the Tackle Box for their match on 1/19 vs. the Diamondbacks. They say it's on the way, so depending when I get it, I'll try to update the Top Shooters list, Beer Frame Tracker, and hopefully get a hard copy printout for the Oasis with the updated standings on it.

Here's a quick recap of the games in Week #12:

The Bankers were home vs. the Towne Lounge I. The Lounge was on fire as they were the winners 16-5. Pat got 3, Jason got 3, and Steve (or Stephen) got 3 (no last names or initials). Tony and Stephen beat Mark and Jim in the beer frame.

The Pocket Raiders headed downtown, downstairs to take on the Yankees Playa's. General Manager Kevin Cibart signed another free agent to his squad - welcome back Leo Oviedo. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. In the match, the Playa's were victorious - beating the Last Call team 16-5. Charles, Kevin, and Leo each got 3 wins helping the cause. Leland and Kevin got the beer frame, too - beating Matt A. and Kevin L.

Upstairs, Ed's Towne Lounge II team welcomed in the Dragons of Oasis. Lounge II was up 7-5 at the break thanks to Prana's lead-off 3 spot. Ed and Shawn got a rare beer frame loss as John and Jason of the Dragons proved to be too much. Ed did strke back with 3 wins in the #5 spot, and Shawn and Steve cleaned things up for a tidy 13-8 Towne Lounge II victory.

The Eagles buzzed in the Empire CLub last Thursday, and it was a close match. The Empire was up 7-5 at the break thanks to Troy's hat trick. Paul joined Troy at the table as his scotch doubles partner, the Eagles fielded Andrew and Chris. The Empire won 2-0. Donny got 3 for the Eagles in the 5th spot, but Bob got 2 in the 6th spot for the Empire. That left it tied going into the final frame - but the Empire couldn't field a 7th player, giving 3 free point to the Eagles, making the final score 12-9 Eagles.

Over at the Oasis, the Stickmen finally got to play on the big boy table - it's been a few seasons - as they took on the Oasis O-Team in a heated battle. In the first half, it was all Oasis as they were up 9-3 at the break. Brian Vignon was able to get all 3 of his games. Scott and Cele were able to provide free drinks to their team as they defeated James and Mike Clarke in the beer frame, 2-1. It could have been ugly, but the bottom half trio of Scott, Keith, and Madsack made it respectable, getting 6 of 9, and making the final score 12-9 Oasis. Keith got all 3 of his games to help the cause.

In a great matchup on paper, the Diamondbacks were home hosting the Oasis Bulldogs. Keith got all 3 of his games, helping his team reach 8 points at half time. Keith and Dennis beat the Mikes - Karol and Brandt - in the beer frame. The Diamondbacks couldn't field a 7th player, though, and ended up handing the 'Dogs 3 free points, and the game. Final score: Oasis 14, Down Lo 7.

That's the end of the first half for the Oasis O-Team - they have the bye in week #13. Everyone else will be finishing up half #1 this Thursday. All scoresheets were turned in perfectly this week - THANK YOU! - please keep it up and remember those penalties for not. At least give me a call and a lame excuse if you're in a jam.

Week #11 Results
Jan 25, 2012, 3:49 pm

Here are (some) of the results from week #11:

The Oasis O-Team and The Oasis Bankers duked it out at their battle-of-the-bar match last Thursday. James and Mike Clarke stepped up and won 3 each, back-to-back, in the first half for the O-Team, but so did Mark for the Bankers. That made the score 8-4 O-Team at the break. Aaron and Sean were scotch doubles partners against Bill and Jim of the Bankers. Aaron and Sean won the frame 2-0. In the bottomhalf, teams traded wins and ended the night as a 13-8 Oasis O-Team victory.

Downtown, the Stickmen were hosting one of Stacy's other teams, the Dragons. This game was also 8-4 at the break, advantage Stickmen. Wheez shot in the 4th spot and got all 3 of his games. The Stickmen had their 2-game beer frame win streak snapped as Scott and Sundy lost to Micah and Krad. In the bottom half, the Stickmen put the hammer down getting 8 of the final 9 matches. Scott got 2, Keith got 3, and Madsack got 3. Final score: Stickmen 16, Dragons 5.

Back at the Oasis, the Bulldogs were home hosting the Towne Lounge II squad. These 2 teams battled all the way down to the final frame, but the Bulldog's Brian Augustine came up big in the final spot and got 2 out of 3 giving his Bulldogs a narrow 11-10 victory. Keith got 3 wins for the 'Dogs, and Ed got 3 wins for his Loungers. Ed and Greg beat Steve and Ed in the beer frame, 2-0 Lounge.

The Playa's were home as well hosting the Empire Club of Durham. The Playa's were also up 8-4 in the first half, thanks to Kevin's 3-0 showing with a break-and-run to boot. Leland and Kevin weren't able to beat the Empire's Paul and Troy, as the visiting club drank for free. As with the Stickmen, it was all Playa's in the bottom frames, scoring 8 of a possible 9. Larry got 2, Jason got 3, and Graham "won" 3 of his by forfeit (no final Empire shooter). Final score: Playa's 16, Empire 5.

I still (as of Wed., 1/25) have not received a Jan. 19th score sheet from the Towne Lounge I team for their game against the visiting Last Call Pocket Raiders, as well as the Tackle Box Spinners for their game versus the Diamondbacks. Therefore the standings are inaccurate, stats are incomplete, beer frame tracker is off, and the Top Shooter list has not been updated (again).

That's it - the grace period is over. I'm sick of driving back and forth to the Oasis hunting down score sheets after the Monday they were due. I've been leniant this first half, letting captains slide multiple times, especially the new teams/captains, but not anymore. As per our rules (the rules that were discussed with all captains at the Captain's Meeting in October), states:

9(a) - "...The home team is responsible for handing in the score sheet no later than 5:00pm the following Monday at the Oasis... Late score sheets will be accepted with a late fee of $1 per home team point. If not received by the following Wednesday, the home team will (additionally) forfeit their games/wins and the opponents score will remain as-is." Penalty fees not paid by the start of the playoffs will result in that team not eligible to attend the year-end party and awards banquet.

It is completely unfair for those that follow the rules, to have those that don't follow them go unpunished. Other teams are dependent on these scores to see where they are in the standings and/or statistically, and the top shooter list is dependent on these results. I can't update these without the scores. CMPL players shouldn't be penalized for the home team's captain's laziness. Not to mention the time wasted for me, hunting the sheets down and having to enter and re-enter information for the web site throughout the week. These captains knew the responsibilities when they signed up and took the role. If it's too much, they need to find someone else to do their jobs. These penalties will hopefully increase the need to get these in on time, and will also help the pool party and help me offset some of the gas fees I incur.

If your captain is computer/email deficient, please pass this message on to him since it affects your whole team.

Good luck in week #12. Tackle Box is on the bye.
